We did go to the Baertlein family reunion in Wisconsin, where it was revealed that several of my husband’s cousins share the same reclusive tendencies he has. Chalk another one up for genetics.
My son and I did join my parents in San Diego to escort my nieces through the likes of Scripps Aquarium, the Fleet Science Museum, and San Diego Zoo while my sister conferred on holistic veterinary medicine. Lots of swimming, snacking and bracelet building filled the small pockets of time between big outings.
We took that early morning Labor Day hike my husband planned, and OK, yes, it was beautiful even if it did try to wreck my hip.
So, goodbye, Summer. It’s been great! See you next year, when hopefully I will have recovered. (Man, I need a vacation.)
